The Executive Secretary of the Abidjan-Lagos Corridor Organization (ALCO), Mr. Idrissa Kone (left) was received in audience by the Deputy Executive Director of the United Nations Environment Program (UNEP) Mr. Ibrahim Thiaw ( right) at the UNEP HQ NAIROBI, KENYA on October 24th , 2016.

This meeting was part of the partnership and resources mobilization initiatives to address the environmental challenges facing West Africa. It has strengthened ALCO and UNEP cooperation towards their common strategic objective in the area of environment protection.

For the Abidjan-Lagos Corridor Organization created on April 30, 2002 through a joint declaration of the heads of states and entrusted with the mandate to manage the challenges of the Abidjan-Lagos Corridor, this enhanced partnership with UNEP is a major step towards a sustainable development in the sub region.
